Uriage Eau Thermal skincare was a range we recently started to stock in Milltown totalhealth Pharmacy – it’s been getting rave reviews and fantastic feedback so I wanted to find out more about the baby skincare range!
One product in particular caught my eye and that was the 1ère Eau Cleansing Water. It comes in a large 500ml bottle and has a well designed lid which makes it easy to squirt onto cotton wool.
So what does it do?
This lightly fragranced water is a no-rinse cleanser for babies. I always advise using no product at all in your newborn babies bath or when ‘topping and tailing’ them until around 2-3 months of age and no matter how gentle a product is my advice remains the same! However, as they get older, on those days when I wasn’t giving my baby a bath I started to want to find something which would freshen him up a little more than just cotton wool and water. He’s a reflux suffer and like any baby has plenty of dirty nappies (shock horror not my little angel!) so as the day progresses…well….he can just get a little manky! I have two older girls to be caring for though and work to get on with so I really just cant have him in and out of the bath all day and anyway I wouldn’t want to because with eczema that can be quite drying on the skin!
So I found my solution! And WOW does it smell good!!!
Uriage 1ère Eau Cleansing Water is a no-rinse formulation which can be used on your baby’s face, body and nappy area. Its made from Uriage Thermal Water and a little Aloe Vera. Its hypo-allergenic, paraben and alcohol free. Uriage Thermal Water is naturally rich in minerals and oligo-elements which soothe and rehydrate the skin. It helps to protect the skins natural barrier which can have remarkable effects on dry and sensitive skin conditions. The copper and zinc in this product help to soothe irritation whilst the silicon softens and protects it. This product actually cleanses the skin and removes dirt and impurities so it’s kind of perfect for dealing with day to day baby skin care. Due to the combination of minerals and oligo-elements which it contains it can reduce skin irritations which can occur in the nappy area or under the chin and in the skin folds. My husband thinks i’m mad because I literally cannot stop sniffing the baby since we started using it!! Everyone loves the smell of a new baby – its magical…but after a couple of months that newborn smell can be replaced by something else..not quite as nice! Uriage 1ère Eau Cleansing Water will have your baby feeling and smelling great after just the first rinse!
How is it used?
To use this product apply it to cotton wool and then massage into the skin. I would recommend using it throughout the day if you are at home on the nappy area but otherwise just once a day to cleanse his face and body – I usually do it when getting him ready for bed! Uriage also do a pack of wipes in this range but they are a little pricey for a day to day wipe at €9.50 a pack of 25 so I would only recommend them for if you’re travelling or out and about and know you won’t be able bathe your baby. They are really convenient for travel because the normal bottle is a large 500ml size and would cleanse your baby, soothe his skin and freshen him up much better than a plain wipe like waterwipes or huggies. They would also provide relief to irritated skin which you wouldn’t get with a normal wipe.
I can hand on heart say that I love this product and it is definitely something that I will continue to use for ‘non bath’ days!
